Malteser International, the humanitarian aid arm of the Catholic Sovereign Order of Malta, is dedicated to improving the health and living conditions of suffering and displaced people worldwide, serving the poor and sick.

In Villa del Sur, a refugee settlement on the outskirts of Riohacha, Colombia, built on a former garbage dump and now home to around 1,000 people—mostly Venezuelans fleeing economic collapse since 2015—Malteser International supports Indigenous women. Through Missionary Artisans, these women craft beautiful handmade mochilas, empowering them to lift their families out of poverty.
